- Mírzá Mihdí is born to Bahá’u’lláh and Navváb.
- Birth of Munírih Khánum, future wife of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá.
- March 20 - Mullá Ḥusayn visits the Báb in Máh-Kú.
- April 9 - The Báb is removed from the fortress of Máh-Kú by orders of Hájí Mírzá Áqásí.
- April 10 - The Báb is transfered to the fortress of Chihríq.
- June 26 - July 17 - the Conference of Badasht was held.
- July: during public interrogation at Tabriz the Báb makes a dramatic public declaration. He is returned to Chihríq.
- July 21: Mullá Ḥusayn hoists the Black Standard and marches with 202 other Bábís to Mashhad.
- September 4 - the Shah of Persia, Muhammad Shah, dies.
- October 10 - Mullá Ḥusayn and a host of other Bábís are besieged at fort Tabarsi.
