[edit] Early life and family

Mr. Yazdi was born in 1909 in Alexandria, Egypt to Bahá’í parents who had traveled there on direction from Bahá’u’lláh, whom Mr. Yazdi's grandfather had the honor of meeting. During Bahá’u’lláh's imprisonment in ‘Akká the Yazdi's trading company in Egypt was used to send and receive correspondence and tablets.

Mr. Yazdi was given his name by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá when the Master visited Alexandria in 1910. Later in 1919 ‘Abdu’l-Bahá called Mr. Yazdi's family to Haifa and was in the presence of the Master until His passing in 1921. It may be that the Yazdi family was one of the first few to be acquainted with the contents of the Will of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá.

Mr. Yazdi's brother was instrumental in assisting the Greatest Holy Leaf to prevent Muhammad-`Ali from taking over the Master's house on the day of His funeral.

[edit] Marriage and education

Mr. Yazdi studied banking in Egypt and electrical engineering in England. In 1941 he married Soraya Khamsi, with whom he had four children. Pursuing service to the Faith, Mr. Yazdi lived in a number of countries including Egypt, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Great Britain, Uganda, Kenya, Israel, and Canada.

While in Iran he worked in the oil industry, and in Kenya he ran a successful import business for 20 years.

[edit] Service to the Faith

Mr. Yazdi was appointed as an Auxiliary board member in 1954. In 1968 he was appointed as one of the Counsellors for Central and East Africa. He also served on the National Assembly of Central and East Africa, and the National Assembly of Kenya. During his travels and his service in the Holy Land he would relate stories of the Master to the friends to encourage them and provide them with support.
