The Garden of Riḍván (Garden of paradise) is located just outside Baghdad, over the Tigris river.
This is the location where Bahá'u'lláh stayed for twelve days from April 21st to May 2nd of 1863 after the Ottoman Empire exiled him from Baghdad and before commencing his journey to Constantinople. During his stay, Bahá'u'lláh announced to his followers that he was "He whom God shall make manifest" whose coming had been foretold by the Báb.
The garden was previously known as the Najibiyyíh Garden, and only subsequent to Bahá'u'lláh's declaration, was it designated by his followers as the Garden of Riḍván. The twelve days that Bahá'u'lláh spent there are celebrated as the "Festival of Riḍván."
