The medical and socio-political aspects of smoking have long been under discussion, yet the ethical issues involved have hitherto been ignored. Nevertheless, the theme of smoking is secondary in this book. Tobacco consumption is used to illustrate and delineate the contours of Baha'i ethics, a religious ethics which has only very recently become the subject of academic analysis.
