Máh Kú was the fortress where the Báb was confined continuously for 9 months under the guard of 'Alí Khán[1]. It was surnamed by the Báb as Jabal-i-Básit (the Open Mountain).

The Báb's stay at Máh Kú lasted from July of 1847 to April 9 1848 when he was transfered to Chihríq due to the increasing freedom given to Him by 'Alí Khán. [2]
