  • 1956 - Territory of Tanganyika jointly with Uganda, Kenya, Belgian Congo, Ruanda-Urundi, French Equatorial Africa, Zanzibar, Comoros Islands, Seychelles, and Chagos Archipelago, known as the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Central and East Africa.[1]
  • 1964 - Independently elected, incorporating mainland Tanganyika and the Isles (Zanzibar, also known as "Unguja", and Pemba) as the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Tanzania.[2]
  • May 5, 1965 - Incorporated with the government.
