Shahr-Bánu

Shahr-Bánú also called Shahr-Bánú Khánum (Persian: شهربانوخانم ) was the daughter of Mirza Muhammad-Hasan, Bahá'u'lláh's older half brother. Shahr-Bánú Khánum was betrothed to ‘Abdu’l-Bahá from a very young age, however she would be forced into another marriage and died in her youth. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá would later marry Fátimih Nahrí
- Shahr-Bánú Khánum was the first cousin of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá
- Whilst making her way from Tihrán to Baghdád, she was kept behind by Bahá'u'lláh's sister Khánum Buzurg and forced into marrying Mírza 'Ali-Khán-i-Núrí a son of the Prime Minister.
- The marriage forced upon Shahr-Bánú Khánum causd her grief and depression. According to her brother, she was in constant prayer to God to deliver her from her tragic plight. Her prayers must have been answered as Shahr-Bánú Khánum fell ill shortly after and died of a disease probably tuberculosis.
